PwC could become the first Big Four accounting and consulting firm in the UK to be run by a woman when its partners vote for their next leader in a few weeks’ time.

The firm, a giant in the worlds of accounting and consulting, has confirmed the final shortlist of senior partners vying to replace Kevin Ellis, the UK chairman who will step down at the end of June.

For the first time, that shortlist is not exclusively male, with two of the three candidates women. Laura Hinton, PwC’s UK head of tax, and Hemione Hudson, who runs the audit business, are in contention, alongside Marco Amitrano, PwC’s head of clients and markets.
