Tangled Biden fears Putin more than Iran

It’s easier to confront Tehran but a frozen conflict in Ukraine also suits the White House

Vladimir Putin may have gained a certain spring in his step after listening to Lord Cameron this week. Britain, said the foreign secretary, wouldn’t be shooting down Russian killer drones over Ukraine in the same way that the RAF and the Americans knocked out the Iranian assault on Israel. In a world of bluff and brinkmanship some things should remain unsaid, and this was one of them.

The question, however, continues to nag. The wars in Ukraine and Israel have intersection points.
