1. Wages are rising, fewer Scots are looking for work and more people are in jobs, according to official data.

The Office for National Statistics said the Scottish unemployment rate was 4 per cent between December to February — a 0.4 percentage point decrease on the previous three months. There was also a 0.5 percentage point rise in those in work to 74.2 per cent while those classed as economically inactive fell slightly to 22.6 per cent.

Separate HM Revenue & Customs data showed median monthly wages for those on payrolls in Scotland rose by 6.3 per cent year-on-year to £2,389 in March.
