Nowhere to hide: the Bedouin girl hit by Iran missile debris

The tin house pieced together from scrap metal was no match for the missiles and interceptors as they collided in the sky above Amina Hassouna’s bedroom.

When missiles fall in the vast expanse of desert where she lives, Israel deems that they have landed in an “open area”. But in this area is al-Fura’a, one of many unrecognised Bedouin villages with no missile defence system, no bomb shelters and no basic infrastructure.

Amina, seven, is in a critical condition in hospital after shrapnel from the massive Iranian missile barrage fired into Israeli territory fell through her home’s corrugated roof just before 2am on Sunday. She was struck on the head and left unconscious.

“Her situation is extremely painful for us. The house couldn’t absorb a
