How we make our money
Updated
Times Money Mentor is paid for by advertising and marketing. Companies pay us to place adverts on the website and for the right to use our star ratings.
Our ratings are independently researched by the consumer groups Defaqto and Savings Champion. Once a star rating is awarded, companies are contacted by our separate commercial team to see if they want to use the rating.
The companies can choose to buy only the licence, or a package of advertising. If they choose the package, we will give them a link to their website on our product ratings table.
If you click the link and buy a product or open an account we will earn revenue. The product won’t cost you anything extra, but the money we earn will help to keep this website running.
Alternatively you can visit the company’s website yourself and we earn nothing. It is up to you. But we hope readers will support Times Money Mentor.
Some of our articles also contain “affiliate links”, which are clearly labelled. Any products or services mentioned in articles are independently chosen by Times Money Mentor. If a link has an * by it, that means we may earn money.
Our strict editorial code prohibits advertisers from ever influencing the independence of our journalism, or how we award star ratings. When we feel a company has lowered its standards we will remove a star rating.
The Times and The Sunday Times take this code extremely seriously. As a result, our commercial team is completely separate from our editorial team, and from Defaqto and Savings Champion, the companies responsible for the ratings research.
We do not make any money from your personal data. In fact, we do not collect any personal data from you when you visit our website.
