We asked for your views on Saturday's match between Manchester United and Burnley.

Here are some of your answers:

    United fans

Bob: Erik ten Hag has lost the plot. I've said it before and will say it again - he is a mediocre manager out of his depth. If it wasn’t for McTominay scoring a few crucial goals, Ten Hag would be gone. He has to go. I'm bored of listening to him once a week, goodness knows how the players put up with him.

Scott: Manchester United need a good clear out this summer of the players that are either past their best or just simply not good enough, after numerous years of waiting or chances - Rashford, Wan-Bissaka, Eriksen, Casemiro. Not to mention Onana, who has cost us far too many times this season. We will never get anywhere with him between the sticks!

Will: Little has changed since the early season Champions League games. While my instinct is to blame the manager, especially after another Onana error, the fact remains - something deeper is wrong at the club. Until that is fixed, the manager cannot be solely responsible. Moyes, Mourinho, Rangnick, Van Gaal, Solskjaer, Giggs, Carrick... let's give Ineos time.

Graham: Yet another scrappy display, without any real team structure. Yet another winning position lost through a dreadful header by Casemiro, and Onana then conceding a penalty. Are there any other teams who have lost as many matches from a winning position with just minutes on the clock? Extremely poor decision-making.

    Burnley fans

Steven: Fantastic performance, nothing to be negative about there! One defeat in eight games, it's a shame there aren't 13 games left. Onto next Saturday, we can do this! Up the Clarets.

Mark: The team are really coming together well. It is a few games too late for us this season, but I like the way the team are playing. I want to keep Kompany for a while yet!

Jack: I've got to admit, Burnley gave max effort. They were a bit lucky at times and I had really hoped this could be the one to upset the applecart. Our run in is the hardest - sorry Natalie (Bromley - BBC Sport's Burnley Fan Writer), the great escape is not on.

Tony: A gutsy performance and a valuable point. It brings Nottingham Forest into play for the last game of the season. Don't write off the Clarets just yet!

  2. 'Ten Hag is getting more forceful in his defence of performances'published at 10:46

Chief football news reporter Simon Stone

BBC Sport's chief football news reporter Simon Stone has been answering your questions.

One fan asked what he made of Erik ten Hag's latest pronouncements on Manchester United versus Coventry City, picking fights with media and making claims on the entertainment his team provides?

Simon replied: Well, on the entertainment front, he’s not wrong is he? Manchester United are entertaining. But I am not sure conceding late goals and making games that seemed to be won full of jeopardy is the kind of entertainment their fans want.

On the ‘picking fights’ front, he is perfectly entitled to his view. He has to defend his position. I just feel on the Coventry game there was a difference of opinion. Ten Hag admitted United made mistakes – but they got through, which is the main thing. I, and colleagues in the media, felt being 3-0 up against a lower league side and only avoiding being knocked out by a marginal (correct) VAR offside decision was embarrassing for a club of that size.

It is clear Ten Hag is getting more forceful in his defence of performances and results. That is a sign of pressure. It is also a sign that a decision will soon be made on his future.

  4. Onana needs to cut out the rashnesspublished at 20:33 27 April

It doesn't say much that eight-and-a-half months after he punched Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic in the face - and somehow got away with it - Andre Onana did virtually the same thing against Burnley.

Onana was responsible for Manchester United being in front, thanks to his two first-half saves to deny Lyle Walker.

So the fact that the Cameroon international cost his team a win is frustrating.

But, after improving so much since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, Onana must take this significant negative out of his game.

It is as though when he sees the ball, he goes for it and either loses concentration or just misreads the situation.

This time, he did not get away with it. He was rightfully punished.

But Onana cannot afford it to happen again.

  5. Man Utd 1-1 Burnley: Key statspublished at 18:16 27 April

Here are the key facts and figures following Saturday’s game between Manchester United and Burnley in the Premier League.

    • Manchester United have only lost one of their last 17 Premier League games against Burnley (2-0 at Old Trafford in January 2020). However, they have now failed to win five of their past seven at home against the Clarets (W2 D4 L1).

    • After starting 2024 with five defeats in their first seven Premier League games (D2), Burnley have only lost one of their past eight matches in the competition (W2 D5).

    • Manchester United have failed to win five of their past six Premier League games (W1 D4 L1), conceding 12 goals in total during this period.

    • Antony scored just his second Premier League goal at Old Trafford, and his first goal in 26 home matches, since netting against Arsenal on his debut in the competition in September 2022.

    • Zeki Amdouni scored the latest Premier League penalty (87th minute) against Manchester United at Old Trafford since Leighton Baines for Everton in December 2006 (92nd minute).

  6. Man Utd 1-1 Burnley: What Ten Hag saidpublished at 17:37 27 April

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been speaking to Sky Sports following the draw: "A strong start to the game, loads of chances, then we lost in control in the second part of the first half when Burnley came back in the game and had some chances. The second half was all ours and we are in a winning position, but we gave the game away at the end.

"Very frustrated, it shouldn't happen. You put yourself in difficult positions. Over many phases of the game we did very good, so at the end we have to take the three points and the clean sheet. We gave it away again at the end.

"We put ourselves in a winning position by playing some good football, creating loads of chances, and then to give it away in the final minutes is so unnecessary."

On whether the dropped points have been down to bad luck or mentality: "Both. We have not been lucky with the refereeing in recent weeks. We have conceded so many penalties - this one is justified but other ones [aren't]. If you make [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka in the final a penalty, then what is this [Alejandro Garnacho penalty claim]? Where is the consistency?

"We have to look in the mirror. We made a mistake, but you take responsibility. They should understand what it means for a team and for a manager."

  7. Full-time: Man Utd 1-1 Burnleypublished at 17:05 27 April

    Have your say

Zeki Amdouni scored a late penalty for Burnley as Manchester United were held to a draw at Old Trafford.

Antony had given the hosts the lead, intercepting a pass and running through to slot in for his first league goal of the season.

Andre Onana then gave away a penalty with three minutes remaining, clattering into Amdouni when attempting to gather a cross.

Amdouni put the spot-kick in the bottom corner to earn Burnley what may prove to be a crucial point in their survival bid.

  8. Sutton's predictions: Man Utd v Burnleypublished at 11:50 27 April

    Sutton's predictions

Chris Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League matches again this season, against a variety of guests.

For this weekend's games, he takes on Andy Bell and Steve Queralt from Ride, who support Arsenal and Tottenham.

    Sutton's predictions: 2-1

Manchester United never seem to make things easy for themselves, as they showed again in midweek.

The one time I predict them to win a game, against bottom side Sheffield United, they ended up going behind twice before turning it around.

Burnley have given themselves a chance of staying up and, if you look at their recent performances, they have been pretty consistent.

The Clarets' results have improved too - they have only lost one of their past seven games, and would have picked up more than 10 points if not for some costly goalkeeper errors.

So, they will be up for this one, and they already gave United a close game at Turf Moor earlier in the season, when they lost out to a brilliant Bruno Fernandes volley.

I don't always agree with Fernandes' antics, but he is such an important player for Erik ten Hag's side. After rescuing them against the Blades on Wednesday, he will probably help them get over the line in this game too.

    Steve's prediction: 2-0

United are so unpredictable - but they are at home and I actually think Burnley are done for, in terms of relegation, so it could be quite comfortable for them.

    Andy's prediction: 0-0

That's interesting. I should caveat all of this by saying I have no idea about football really, I just like going to watch Arsenal. Having said that, I know United have been up and down so I am going to back Burnley to follow up their big win from last week and hold them off here.

  9. Ten Hag backs Rashford over criticismpublished at 15:42 26 April

Manager Erik ten Hag of Manchester United speaks during a press conference at Carrington Training Ground Image source, Getty Images

Erik ten Hag says he has "a lot of sympathy" for Marcus Rashford, but conceded the 26-year-old "can do better" for Manchester United.

The Red Devils are unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season after dropping seven points against Chelsea, Liverpool and Bournemouth this month.

After a positive message of support from a fan account on X, Rashford spoke out on the criticism he has faced on social media this season, writing: "I appreciate your support! It is abuse and has been for months. Enough is enough."

Ten Hag lent his support to Rashford in his pre-match news conference before the game against Burnley on Saturday.

"I have a lot of sympathy for Rashy," he said. "Last year, he had a brilliant season. I think it was the best season in his career. He scored 30 goals, so there you can see what he is capable of.

"This season, he hasn't given the performances and then people are very critical.

"I think we have to back him. Everyone should back him and push him to get back to the levels he was at last year."

Rashford has eight goals and five assists in 40 appearances across all competitions this season, and faced boos from some supporters when he was substituted in Manchester United's FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry City.

"I think he needs support," Ten Hag added. "We all know what he is capable of, so we all have to support him but also push him.

"He can do better than he is doing this year - he showed that last year when he was really brilliant."

  10. Ten Hag on Rashford, injuries and Old Trafford atmospherepublished at 14:28 26 April

    Bill Rice
    BBC Radio Manchester sports editor

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been facing the media ahead of Saturday's game against Burnley at Old Trafford.

Reporters from The Sun, The Mirror the Manchester Evening News were in attendance but were not permitted to ask questions, after the United boss took exception to their criticism and coverage of their FA Cup semi-final against Coventry last week.

Here is what he had to say:

    • Ten Hag offered his backing to Marcus Rashford: "Lot of sympathy for Rashy of course. Last year was a brilliant season - the best of his career - and you saw what he is capable of. This year he didn’t give performances and people [have been] very critical. I think we have to back him and push him to get back to the levels of last year."

    • Mason Mount will return to the squad for the Burnley game, but otherwise it is the same personnel as against Sheffield United, so Rashford is unlikely to return.

    • He thinks Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial are all likely to return from injury this season: "Yes, I think so. They returned, all three onto the pitch. Next week, they have to make a step into team training and we think they can be available for the last weeks. They are progressing well."

    • He wants the team to be "better organised out of possession and play at a high intensity" between now and the end of the season. He also feels they have made huge progress in possession this season, and thinks it is "immense" how United have developed their attacking way of play.

    • He wants his attacking players to contribute more discipline and put more pressure on the ball when the team are defending.

    • On Burnley: "They play high intensity football and have changed their approach a little. They are now more in a survival mode and are doing pretty well. In the last couple of games, they have got good results and will be hard to beat."

    • He believes the supporters have not turned against the players: "The fans are behind us always. We are back at Old Trafford and the reception on Wednesday was louder than I have heard. Away from home they are also always supportive and backing the team. There is a good connection between the team and the fans."

    • He feels United have not been able to put in the performances they would like this season due to the number of players unavailable and believes the fans understand this.

    • He denied players were playing for their futures: "No, we are playing for points to get the best position in the league and to win silverware."

  11. 'The bar at Man Utd is really concerning'published at 10:54 26 April

    Michael Brown banner

I thought Erik ten Hag's interview after the Sheffield United game was again very strange.

He said he did not really feel like his team were worried when Sheffield United took the lead and I was thinking, 'Well, everybody else seemed to be thinking they could actually lose the game'.

And he was asked if towards the end of that game if it is as good as his team have played and he said, "No, we played really well against Coventry for 70 minutes".

If that is the bar and that is the standard then certainly things have dropped at Manchester United and it is very concerning.

There is a lack of honesty from Ten Hag.

A win against Manchester City in the FA Cup final would be a great return and that could be the one big saver. Delivering another trophy, especially against City, would be a real plus point.

It would be a nice ending for Ten Hag - he could take something from his United tenure, but I just cannot see how it is possible for him to take the club forward.

I look at the structure, who has gone into the club and who is heading that way. I think Ten Hag would like more control and I do not believe with the new structure that he is the correct man to fit that at United going forward.

  12. Back to school for United debutant Wheatleypublished at 08:20 26 April

    Chief football news reporter

    Ethan WheatleyImage source, Getty Images

Manchester United history maker Ethan Wheatley celebrated becoming the 250th Academy graduate to make his first-team debut for the Old Trafford club by going to school.

The 18-year-old striker was an injury-time replacement for Rasmus Hojlund in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Sheffield United.

It capped a remarkable week for Stockport-born Wheatley, who was on the bench for the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry at the weekend and then played a key role in United Under-18s Premier League Cup final win against Manchester City on Tuesday.

But it didn’t excuse him his studies as he aims to get an Extended Diploma in Marketing.

“He has been at school this morning,” said United’s head of academy, Nick Cox.

“When you are a youth team player, you are still of scholarship age and duty bound to continue with your education. He is in the upper sixth, so he has to stay at the school until the end of the year.

“He has been pestering us to come into school and get the education finished. He has never told me this but I would suspect one motive is that it would feel pretty good walking into school having just made your Manchester United debut. I don’t blame him for that.”

An England Under-17 international, Wheatley showed no fear during his brief time on the pitch at Old Trafford and is likely to keep his place in Erik ten Hag’s squad for Saturday’s Premier League encounter with Burnley.

It is a far cry from a trip to the Czech Republic as an 11-year-old recalled in a conversation between Cox and Neil Gittens, United’s head of player development for youngsters between the ages of nine and 12, in the wake of Wheatley’s senior bow.

“Neil and I took Ethan on a tour to the Czech Republic,” said Cox. “We were recalling how nervous and tearful he was about being away from home.

“He was a little bit overawed by the whole experience. We had to encourage him and coax him to play games. We were basically bribing him with chocolate pancakes. That feels like yesterday.”
