By investing in proven solutions, like quality secondary education for girls, we can accelerate progress on the #GlobalGoals. Together with advocates like Malala, we’re building a world where every girl has the tools to thrive, lead and shape her future. #UNGA

Malnutrition disproportionately affects women and girls. In the 12 countries facing the largest food and nutrition crisis, the number of pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and adolescent girls suffering from acute malnutrition has surged by 25 per cent in just five years. Ahead of the Nutrition for Growth Summit in Paris next year, we need to commit to tackling malnutrition and prioritizing the health of women and girls. #UNGA

Today at #UNGA, more than 40 organizations and businesses united to sign the Global Coalition for Youth Mental Health’s open letter, urging global leaders to take immediate action. The letter highlights the urgent need to: • Close the $200 billion global funding gap for mental health. • Prioritize mental health, especially amid global challenges such as in humanitarian emergencies and climate and ecological crises. • Mobilize greater private sector investment and action to promote mental health well-being in workplaces and communities. Every child has the right to the best start in life. Yet, millions of children around the world are not receiving adequate nutrition, stimulation and care. With leaders gathering at #UNGA, we have the power to change this, we know what needs to be done: • Protect breastfeeding by providing mothers and families with timely and quality breastfeeding support and resources • Ensure good nutrition through accessible, safe and diverse foods for all children. • Promote responsive care and early learning to strengthen young children’s psychosocial development and school readiness. https://lnkd.in/dFfK2_PA #EarlyMomentsMatter

Immunization is not just about saving lives—it’s about securing a brighter, healthier future for children everywhere. From preventing life-threatening diseases to safeguarding the world from pandemics, vaccines allow children to walk, play and learn without fear. With only six years left to achieve the #GlobalGoals, UNICEF is driving proven solutions to expand immunization funding and protect the most vulnerable. What’s needed? • Sustainable and sufficient financing for immunization • Increased investment in primary healthcare • Equitable access to new vaccines for emerging threats • Boosting trust in routine immunization and new vaccines Together, we can protect every child from vaccine-preventable diseases. https://lnkd.in/dFfK2_PA

“According to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, more than 1,200 people were injured on Monday, including children and women. Countless more children are in danger, with thousands of families displaced from their homes, and attacks on civilian infrastructure. Alarming levels of psychological distress have been reported among children in both countries, stemming not only from their sudden displacement but also from the barrage of shelling and air raids which have become their daily reality for nearly a year. All parties must uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect civilians, civilian infrastructure, humanitarian workers and medical personnel. This includes facilitating the safe movement of civilians seeking safety. UNICEF urgently calls for an immediate de-escalation.” - Catherine Russell, UNICEF Executive Director

Violence, hunger, malnutrition and disease outbreaks - in Sudan, this is the horrific reality for millions of children and people. As leaders gather for #UNGA this week, UNICEF, World Health Organization and World Food Programme are calling for unimpeded aid access, protection of civilians and healthcare and increased donor funding. Most importantly, the children and people of Sudan need a ceasefire.
