Code of Conduct

Columbia University Press is committed to creating a culture of professionalism, mutual respect, and inclusion. Our community includes our staff, interns, reviewers, media professionals, donors, vendors, authors, and other partners who collectively further our mission of publishing excellence and upholding freedom of expression.

The Press maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward discrimination and harassment. Columbia’s commitment to providing an environment free from discrimination and harassment is outlined in the University’s Non-Discrimination Statement and Policies

We do not tolerate illegal, dishonest, or unethical professional conduct as outlined in the University’s Statement of Ethical Conduct and the Administrative Code of Conduct.

The Press’s commitment to an environment of tolerance and inclusion upholds the reputation of the University, both locally and globally, and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. When we find a violation of the tenets of this Code, the Press takes prompt and appropriate action, which may include the termination of any partnerships that we determine violate or threaten our ability to achieve a culture of collaboration and responsibility. You are also welcome to submit a compliance hotline report with the option to report anonymously. Retaliation against those who report an ethical or compliance concern in good faith is strictly prohibited.
