Between 1 October and 31 December 2022, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), through its Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) methodology, deployed the Flow Monitoring Survey (FMS) across the 5 Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) in the country to assess the socio economic profile of migrants, their intentions and expectations, details about their journey and the needs they may have. The FMPs are located in Metema, Galafi, Moyale, Dawale and Tog Wochale.

During the reporting period, DTM Ethiopia surveyed a total of 3,030 migrants across the 5 FMPs. Overall, the majority of respondents departed from Ethiopia (2,673 respondents, 88.2%). In total, 1,232 out of 3,030 respondents intended to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (40.7%). The most reported main reasons for migration were economic reasons (82.7%), marriage, family reunification or family formation (8.5%), conflict (5.7%) and slow environmental change (5.5%).
