Can I use BBC Sounds on my computer?

To access BBC Sounds on a computer or laptop, simply head to bbc.co.uk/sounds.

To use the BBC Sounds website, your computer or laptop will need to run a supported operating system. You'll also need to use one of our supported internet browsers.

  • Not sure what a browser is? It’s a piece of software installed on your computer that gives you access to websites.
  • Not sure what an operating system is? The operating system controls and manages the hardware and software on your computer. It’s the interface between you and your computer.

There is no BBC Sounds app for computers or laptops. Our BBC Sounds app is for mobiles, tablets and supported TVs only.

Browsers

We verify that BBC Sounds works in most browsers. However, we recommend the latest version of the following browsers for the full audience experience:

Due to the resources required to develop, test and support BBC Sounds for each individual browser currently available, and in the interest of delivering value for the licence fee, we only support the most popular browsers currently used. We'll continue to follow user trends and support the top browsers accordingly, as and when they change.

We recognise that some users may choose to use another browser, however, we cannot guarantee a problem-free BBC Sounds experience. As such, we may not be able to offer support to those using browsers or operating systems not listed here.

Operating Systems

We’ve tested the internet browsers listed above on the following operating systems:

  • Windows 10
  • Windows 11
  • Mac OS 10 and above
