Manchester United finished the Premier League season with four consecutive wins

Manchester United wrapped up third place in the Premier League as they came from behind to beat Fulham at Old Trafford.

The visitors took the lead early in the first half when Kenny Tete headed in Willian's corner at the near post, and they could have gone 2-0 up but Aleksandar Mitrovic saw his penalty saved by David de Gea.

Alejandro Garnacho curled a shot against the crossbar as United responded well and were eventually rewarded with the equaliser when Jadon Sancho poked in after Fred had burst into the area.

Bruno Fernandes put the hosts ahead early in the second half when he was sent clear by Fred and clipped a neat finish beyond Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Marcus Rashford saw a shot saved by Leno as United looked to add a third, while De Gea did well to push away a decent Mitrovic strike late on to secure the victory.

It means the hosts finished third on 75 points while Fulham end the season in 10th place with 52 points.

United taking momentum into FA Cup final

United had already made sure of Champions League football next season by beating Chelsea 4-1 on Thursday to cement a top-four finish.

It meant they went into their final home game of the season without the pressure to get a result, but boss Erik ten Hag was nevertheless determined that his side signed off on a high to ensure they go into next weekend's FA Cup final with Manchester City in the best possible shape.

The game showed no signs of being an end-of-season dead rubber with both sides attacking with determination and desire, but it was Fulham who got the breakthrough from a set-piece.

United did need a great save from De Gea to prevent Fulham from doubling their lead but from then on the hosts were largely in control - bar one or two moments late on - as they fought back for a 15th home win of the season.

Only Manchester City have won more games on home soil, and there was a good atmosphere around Old Trafford, even when the home side fell behind. That sense of unity could serve them well as they look to complete a domestic double by adding the FA Cup to their League Cup triumph.

    Credit to ten Haag. Turned Man U form nothing to something in a pretty short space of time and finished third. Lots of positive for next year but investment needed and a clear out a must. From a Newcastle fan.

    All things considered manager of the season for me! Consider the state of United with the football and Ronaldo sideshow and after losing 4-0 at Brentford it was laughable to think United could even get top 4. Yet alone 3rd and won a cup, possibly a second next week. All in a transition season. Hardly love United but the manager is class.

    If someone offered me 3rd place + Caraboa + FA Cup final I'd have bitten their hand off, great season, need to improve alot more but feels good to be headed in the right direction. Next season will be tougher.

    Third with 75 points, the League Cup, and an FA Cup Final to look forward to. Compare that to last season when Man Utd finished with 58 points and were nowhere in any competition.

    This has been a good season - 8/10 for the team, 9/10 for Ten Hag, and 10/10 for the recovery from the awful August/September period. Also 10/10 to Rashford for finishing with 30 goals.

      What a way to end the Prem season after the first 2 defeats. Our away record- not that brilliant but Old Trafford has been a fortress once again. To win the FA Cup would seal a great season. We finish above Newcastle and Liverpool and see our nemesis Leeds relegated- happy days. Roll on next season. In Ten Hag we trust. New players to come in during the summer.

    Brilliant first season from ETH. We were in disarray when he came and he's brought back discipline and pride. Need to get rid of some crap and bring in quality but definitely things are looking up.

      I would say, just based on this season alone, ETH has had the 5th best season compared against the ex Man U managers.

      Mourinhos Roma are looking for a 2nd consecutive European trophy.

      Moyes also has a chance at European glory with little old West Ham

      Carrick had cheapskates Boro in the Playoffs in his 1st season.

      Ragnick's Austria are top of a very difficult group.

    Well done, Man Utd! Excellent finish to the season, particularly when it was hoped by the ABUs that Man Utd would be as bad as Spurs & Chelsea have been this season… Also, what about Newcastle & Brighton supposed finishing above Man Utd 🤭
    Going forward, Harry Kane for next season should be a formality now and hopefully a few more top signings too.

    United's performance this Season is highly impressive, most especially considering having to show CR7 the way out and Martial's injury problems!

    Factor in Ericksen's injury and the number of games Cassemiro was out due to suspensions!

    Beating City will be a Double triumph for Me!

    I’d give this season an 8/10 for EtH. Good personnel management and got us playing for each other. Points deducted for some weird tactical decisions along the way.

    Still yards behind City in terms of squad depth, needs about 6 inbound signings and at least 3 more out.

      Presumably that's "your" money they are spending in the 2nd paragraph. I forgot a £10 scarf once every 2 seasons equalled £800 million available for transfers, what's that? Coutinho economics.
