  1. Goodnight

That's the end of this live text now. Thanks for joining us. We'll be back tomorrow for the Champions League.

  2. 'Dream come true'

    FT: Chelsea 6-0 Everton

    Chelsea

Chelsea academy graduate Alfie Gilchrist, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was crazy.

"I joined in the attack, I saw an opportunity and smashed it hard as I could!

"Every time I have been here as a fan I look up and see everybody else score and to do it, it is a dream come true for my family."

On the penalty incident: "We have all spoke about it and brushed it aside."

  3. 'We cannot feel sorry for ourselves'

    FT: Chelsea 6-0 Everton

    Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports: "Ugly night collectively, a dire night.

"Perfect storm that every mistake got punished. The start of the game was spot on and we went after them, there is a strange feeling around Chelsea, could we step on them? We missed a chance straight away.

"People learning and young players learning about football, but you have to get your tackles in, but it was miles off collectively – mildly better in second half.

"The basics you have got to do the basics and you have got to recover.

"Chelsea have good players they play round you and you have to recover.

"We were miles away from it tonight, nothing to do with anyone else. We have taken a knock; does it leak into the players? Maybe.

"When it is collectively and miles away you are looking for a shining light and looking at doing the basics well. Chelsea have spent a lot of money on quality and they showed it tonight, but you cannot give up chances like that.

"We know we are not scoring near enough the goals that we need to, but defensively we have been solid so it is unusual for that to happen.

"Yes there are all nervous games. Our fans have been terrific and you would wouldn’t you [leave early]. We have to pay that support back. We cannot feel sorry for ourselves and we have to get on with business."

On the point deduction affecting players: "It has to be parked.

"Professional that is what it says on your passport, now the professional bit kicks in.

"We have to do everything we can do to look after ourselves."

  4. Post update

    FT: Chelsea 6-0 Everton

This was the heaviest defeat of Sean Dyche's managerial career in his 531st game at Watford, Burnley and Everton.

  5. 'Today was the perfect game'

    FT: Chelsea 6-0 Everton

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino, speaking to Sky Sports: "I need to be honest, of course when we signed him he [Cole Palmer] was a great talent. He is doing fantastic, he is doing really well and he has adapted himself. The impact on the team was amazing from day one.

"I am so happy for him and the team.

"We played some good games, but yes today I am happy with the performance, and we started the game really well. We show a different approach against Sheffield United and we spoke in the week we improved in different areas – today was the perfect game."

On the players arguing: "It is a shame. We cannot behave in this way; I told them ‘this is the last time of this behaviour’.

"It is impossible to have this type of behaviour after this performance. If we want to be a great team, we need to change and think in a collective way."

On Europe qualification: "The most important thing now is to build a team which is consistent and to win games. We need to be solid in the performance because we have dropped too many points.

    "We were not consistent enough.

"We need to learn and learn quick."

  6. 'Palmer is performing fantastic'

    FT: Chelsea 6-0 Everton

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino to BBC Sport: "We were very clinical in front of goal. I'm happy. A clean sheet."

On whether he expected Cole Palmer to score so many goals: "No. You expect him to perform well but he's performing fantastic and doing amazing for the team. I'm happy for him scoring four goals."

On the penalty argument: "It's a shame. It's a process for a young team who need to learn a lot. I was talking about this to the player after the game. It's the last time I want to see something like this. I want to apologise to the fans.

"We need to make clear next time that happens. They need to learn and be professional. We need to be focused on the collective. They knew it was Cole. Cole is the taker. It's a clear example that it's a process we still need to learn."

  7. 'The most embarrassed I have felt'

    FT: Chelsea 6-0 Everton

    Everton

Everton defender James Tarkowski, speaking to Sky Sports: "Be a long debrief that.

"Underperformed, the most embarrassed I have felt as an individual.

"It shows where we are at today, we can only apologise to the fans who supported us. It is on the players. It is not on the manager and the staff. No excuses on our behalf we need to brush ourselves down as we have a big few weeks coming up.

"We conceded six goals and you should feel embarrassed.

"Nothing to do with technical aspects, people getting beat and run off and it is hard to summarise it. I have had dark times here but the fans stick by us in the next game so hopefully they’ll be there for us again."

  8. 'Buzzing'

    FT: Chelsea 6-0 Everton

    Chelsea

Chelsea player of the match Cole Palmer, speaking to Sky Sports: "It all happens so fast. We started well and I scored another hat-trick - buzzing. The team needed that after Sunday, but we did well tonight.

"First one was my favourite, my right foot was a bit of a swinger.

"Everyone was buzzing for Alfie Gilchrist. He has been a Chelsea fan all his life and everyone is buzzing for him.

"After the previous game we needed to come out and show something. It was a good performance tonight."

On players arguing over taking the penalty: "Other players wanted to take it, but I am the penalty taker and I wanted to take it.

"I think we are showing everyone is wanting to take responsibility it may be a bit over the top, but everyone wants to win – we are laughing and joking about it.

"This season we have been a bit inconsistent. We have had some poor performances and we have got some good wins. We will take each game as it comes and see where we finish."

  9. Post update

    FT: Chelsea 6-0 Everton

    Shamoon Hafez

    BBC Sport

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri and MSP Sports Capital have agreed in principle an extension for prospective buyers 777 Partners to settle the loan owed to MSP, BBC Sport understands.

A £158m figure, which includes monies owed to two local businessmen was due to be repaid today.

The exact terms of the extension agreement has not been disclosed, but sources say it will be a question of weeks not months. 777 have told BBC Sport they remain confident of meeting the Premier League's other preconditions to passing the Owners' and Directors' Test.

The main checks centre on whether the US-based investment firm can provide evidence of source of funds and give proof of adequate funds for three years of the business plan.

  10. 'Miles off'

    FT: Chelsea 6-0 Everton

    Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche to BBC Sport: "Really poor. Miles off the intent and desire to win a match. You have to give strength, put a tackle in. I thought we were mildly better second half but the first half miles off.

"Collective down day. We had one at Villa when we're collectively looking for a spark.

"You can't give away soft goals like that. They're dancing around us.

"Not just the back five, young lads in midfield. They'll learn if you don't get tackles in and read the play you'll get hurt.

"I'm not going to hide behind that [Beto miss] although it does change the game. Too many errors. Too many players way off the mark.

"Six big games. They've had another knock. We've already agreed that's gone, we have to get on with it. It [points deduction] is out of our control.

"We created 10 chances away from home. They had 14.

"We can't perform like that at a place like this. The key moments when they got chances, finding the back of the net, we haven't done that all season."

On discovering the appeal will be heard before the end of the season: "It's a relief to football, not just to us. We're all scratching our heads anyway but that would have made it worse."

  11. 'A moment Gilchrist will never forget'

    FT: Chelsea 6-0 Everton

    Jamie Carragher

Former Liverpool defender on Sky Sports

Great to see when Alfie Gilchrist celebrated.

He showed the calmness, he had to wait for the ball and make the right contact.

Gilchrist wanted to be in the crowd and it's a moment he will never forget.

  12. Only Toure above Palmer

    FT: Chelsea 6-0 Everton

Cole Palmer has converted all nine penalties he has taken in the Premier League with only Yaya Toure (11) posting a better 100% conversion rate from the spot in the competition's history.

Only Frank Lampard (10 in 2009-10) has scored more penalties than Palmer in a single Premier League campaign for Chelsea.

  13. 'It is daft'

    FT: Chelsea 6-0 Everton

    Jamie Carragher

Former Liverpool defender on Sky Sports

On Chelsea players arguing over who took the penalty...

    It is daft.

Mauricio Pochettino is going to get asked about this after the best result of the season.
