Top tips for moving to high school

Nail that timetable!

How about printing three timetables? Why three? That’s simple! One for your bag, one for your pocket and one for at home. You’ll never pack the wrong books or forget your homework again!

If you don't have a printer at home, you could take a picture of your timetable so it's always easy to find on your phone.  Or why not download a free timetable or personalise your phone's calendar. Remember to ask an adult before you download something new if you are under 13.

BONUS TIP: Print a small timetable for your pocket. It’s quick and easy, not forgetting less stressful than rooting around in your bag for your planner!

Get a sturdy bag

Whilst that tiny bum bag or satchel looks really cute, sadly your books and pencils won't fit! Buy a big enough bag and a strong enough bag for all your daily essentials and avoid that classic bag snap – that’s the last thing you need!

BONUS TIP: Carry a spare shoelace just in case your bag strap snaps. A simple D.I.Y hack will get you through till the end of the school day.

The panic £s!

Whether you’ve forgotten your lunch or your change for the bus, carrying a few panic pounds with you will make sure you’re never caught out!

BONUS TIP: If your school has a top-up card system for lunches, make sure you top up your card for the week.

Get your own water bottle

Hydration is key! Stay hydrated and stay focused in class and take in your own water bottle.

BONUS TIP: You can personalise your water bottle - write your name or initials on it. At least that’s one less thing to worry about!

Do that 'To Do' list

You can use your phone's notes feature to make lists that let you tick off or cross out actions once you've finished them. So satisfying once you've completed something!

BONUS TIP: If you often forget what needs to go your 'To Do' list, why not use your phone's voice memo or recording feature to make a quick note to yourself, and then write it up later. Sorted!
