Voice of America provides trusted and objective news and information in 48 languages to a measured weekly audience of more than 326 million people around the world. For more than 80 years, VOA journalists have told American stories and supplied content that many people cannot get locally: objective news and information about the US, their specific region and the world. VOA uses the devices and platforms target markets use to connect audiences on five continents with the people, thoughts and institutions that make America unique.
VOA uses digital, web and mobile media to engage viewers, listeners, users, and friends. Radio and television broadcast to approximately 3,500 affiliates and satellite transmissions reach countries where free speech is banned or where civil society is under threat. VOA mobile apps cater to users on all major mobile platforms and have generated more than 1.4 million downloads and 9 million visits in FY2022. With the largest audience of all U.S. international media, VOA continues to be a beacon of hope for underserved audiences who yearn for information about freedom of expression, civil society, and change.

Voice of America wins 10 awards at New York Festivals
Voice of America programming received top prizes at the prestigious 2024 New York Festivals. New York Festivals’ Radio and TV & Film Awards honor outstanding media content across a variety of platforms. At the April 16 ceremonies, VOA claimed three gold, two silver and five bronze awards. The ten-award haul matches VOA’s record in this annual competition.
Voice of America names new Director of Studio and Production Operations
The Voice of America has selected Richard Frantz as its new Director of Studio and Production Operations. Frantz will lead the team responsible for all VOA television and radio studios, master controls, traffic and remote operations, its facilities around the globe, and its Washington, DC-based technical and operational staff of more than 250.
VOA statement denouncing actions by Tehran Revolutionary Court against VOA journalists
VOA condemns the recently revealed actions taken in secret by the Tehran Revolutionary Court in 2022 that tried and convicted 44 journalists – including 11 at VOA – in absentia for allegedly producing “propaganda against the government.”
