Summer signing Colby Bishop made it five goals in five games as Portsmouth came from behind to beat Cambridge 4-1 and extend their unbeaten start to the season.

Cambridge took the lead 15 minutes before half-time when Joe Ironside turned in Liam O'Neil's corner at the near post.

It took until the 45th minute for Pompey to register a shot on target when Bishop was denied by a smart stop from Dimitar Mitov.

But moments later Bishop equalised, tapping in from close range after captain Sean Raggett had nodded Owen Dale's cross back across the face of goal.

The hosts took the lead on the hour mark when Cambridge goalkeeper Mitov dropped Tom Lowery's free-kick and Ronan Curtis bundled the ball over the line from close range.

Mitov was at fault again as Pompey doubled their lead with 20 minutes remaining, allowing substitute Michael Jacobs's shot from 12 yards to squirm through his legs into the net.

Defender Connor Ogilvie nodded in Reeco Hackett's cross 13 minutes from time to complete the rout.

    Well done Pompey. Great little football club with big hearted supporters. Spent time in North End in the late 80,s early 90,s and have many fond memories. Hope you get promoted but don’t want to play you next season as I hope the Blades are in the Premier League.

    Excellent second half performance. Surprised how Cambridge wilted. Their fans were good I'll give them that.

    Have the changes to the lower part of the south stand made the Fratton Park atmosphere even better/louder?

    I've been to both home games so far and it definitely seems louder and more of a roar when the crowd get going.

    Bad night for us tonight against a side we've only beaten once at Fratton Park. Probably not expected to win there but we will react as we tend to do. We won't go down but there's a big gap between the big hitters of L1 and the rest. At least Mitov has had his howler, we've defended like schoolboys and against Oxford did the 90th minute defeat thing. At least hopefully we've binned the errors.

    To give some credit Danny Cowley certainly has substitutions down to a fine art . After a first half of being second best Pompey grew into the game and were well worth the win .

      The substitutes were better players than those substituted. Not sure that’s being a tactical master. Probably should have started with them. Pompey looked good second half but could have been two down at half time.

    Bishop was a good signing, but for me Pack was a excellent addition to the squad. They've hit the ground running. Hopefully more ups than downs this season. PUP

    Pompey have always been a bogey side (one win in 44 years) for us so not that surprised really as they are much more fancied to do well than we are. Trouble with the start of the season is the games come thick and fast so you are constantly chopping and changing your team. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. Tonight it didn’t. Learn from it and move on.

    I love it when we win. Not just for the obvious reason but also fools such as 'PFC' (nice to see 'Fratton' changing his tune) go to ground and the rest of us don't have to read the drivel of people who've clearly never played the game in their entire lives. Long may the silence continue. PuP.
