Virgin

Cable television is a system which provides various channels, normally through a fibre-optic cable, to a cable TV receiver, without using an aerial. The provider of cable television in the UK is Virgin Media.

With cable television, any problem will be either your cables/connectors or a service fault in your local area.

Cable and connectors

A television signal will always lose some of its strength as it passes along the cable and through the connectors. Therefore, it is important to minimise the loss by using good quality cable and connectors. Check that none of the cables and connectors are damaged.

Connections

Check that the cable connections to and from your receiver and TV are secure as they may have come loose. If you have no picture, try disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI or SCART cable from the television to the cable box. It sounds odd, but often works!

Local area fault

To see if there is a service fault in your local area, you can use Virgin Media's service status tool.  Virgin Media also has a comprehensive help site.
