The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

À propos

The mission of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. The OECD provides a forum in which governments can work together to share experiences and seek solutions to common problems. We work with governments to understand what drives economic, social and environmental change. We measure productivity and global flows of trade and investment. We analyse and compare data to predict future trends. We set international standards on a wide range of things, from agriculture and tax to the safety of chemicals. We look, too, at issues that directly affect the lives of ordinary people, like how much they pay in taxes and social security, and how much leisure time they can take. We compare how different countries’ school systems are readying their young people for modern life, and how different countries’ pension systems will look after their citizens in old age. Drawing on facts and real-life experience, we recommend policies designed to make the lives of ordinary people better. The common thread of our work is a shared commitment to market economies backed by democratic institutions and focused on the wellbeing of all citizens.

In today's ever-changing job market, there's a clear demand for skills that fill the employment gap in sectors, particularly those driving green and digital transformations. However, throughout OECD countries, employers are grappling with finding the right talent. Traditional methods of hiring, such as relying solely on academic qualifications or job titles, often fail to capture the true potential of candidates and perpetuate inequalities. What needs to change? A skills-first approach, which focuses on hiring based on actual skills, could be the answer.     In this webinar, the OECDs Skills-first approach project will present some of the preliminary findings and then a panel of experts will discuss further the potential of prioritising skills to promote inclusion in the workforce, especially in essential but to hard-to-fill jobs. Speakers include: - Iván Bornacelly, Policy Analyst at the OECD Centre for Skills, OECD - Sharat Raghavan, Research Director, LinkedIn  - Mariana Batista, Education and Skills advisor, WindEurope  - Daniel McCabe, WorldSkills Champion, UK   - Jose Betancur, Director of NODO, Colombia   - Papia Debroy, Senior VP of Research and Insight, Opportunity@Work Moderated by Duncan Crawford, Senior Content Manager, OECD Education and Skills.

Wealthier does not mean less at risk: Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are the most vulnerable among countries "most in need." The average vulnerability score for these islands is 56.7 - higher than the 52.4 score for other countries eligible for development aid. SIDS face challenges when they become high-income and lose access to development aid. Using a Multidimensional Vulnerability Index could help the international community better understand these countries' vulnerabilities and provide support even before they lose aid eligibility. In today's digital era, the movement of data across borders is vital for the global economy. Cross-border data flows enable everything from supply chain optimisation in manufacturing to international health research and the convenience of everyday digital services. However, these data flows also pose significant policy challenges, including to the protection of fundamental rights like privacy, intellectual property rights, industrial policy, and national security, among others. This is where the concept of Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT) comes in. DFFT aims to promote the economic and social benefits of data flows while addressing these critical concerns. The OECD has been a key player in advancing the DFFT agenda, working with G7 and G20 leaders to operationalise this vision. By fostering informed dialogue through its DFFT experts community, the OECD continues to lead the way in creating policies that build trust in data flows, ensuring they contribute to innovation and economic growth. Watch our latest video to learn more about how DFFT is shaping the future of global data governance: https://brnw.ch/21wKiMy #DataGovernance #DFFT #OECD #DigitalEconomy
